Now that you have been successfully admitted to a university in the US and gotten your visa, it is time to start planning and preparing to the big trip. You will have to get all the shopping done and pack all those things what you will need when you land on the foreign land but do you really know what to bring?
Before making a packing list you need to know the following information:
Airline companies have rules different rules regarding baggage restrictions. The most important rule to know is that baggage is limited by airlines with regard to size, weight, and number. Baggage exceeding the limits is regarded as excess baggage and will cost you a fortune to bring to the US with you. Thus, it is very important to check about such restrictions with your airline agents soon after you book your flight ticket.
Most airlines let to you check in two baggages and bring one carry on plus a personal item with you onboard free of charge. Here a example of restriction on a checked baggage: Each bag at a maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height). A carryon luggage can be 40 pounds (18 kg) maximum and 45 linear inches (115 cm), which is up to 14 in x 9 in x 22 in.
A personal item can items as follows: one small personal article such as a briefcase, purse, day planner, small laptop computer, camera case, compact disk player or similar sized personal entertainment item.
