It has been about two weeks since I started my blog, “Smita’s Blog.” It has just an idea not too long ago and now it is up and running. In this short span of time, I have been able to get much love from my readers, which has shown itself in the form of numerous emails with words of encouragement and support that I receive almost every day.

Each email provides me with a little push I need to continue to write and continue to share.  I want to take this time to thank all my readers for being so supportive. This blog is intended to provide suggestions and support to students that come abroad for their further. I hope my readers are finding this blog helpful.

In this blog, I wanted to publish an email that I got from one of my readers. He has been very kind and given me permission to share his email with everyone. He sent this email after reading my blog “First Week in the US.” In his email, he shares his initial experiences in London as an International student.

Hello Smita,

Exactly same kind of feeling I had when I landed at Heathrow Airport on the early hour of sometime like 6 in the morning. The aircraft that I was on was Thai airways. Before landing at Heathrow Airport, the aircraft curved around to show us the monumental structure of Tower Bridge and then ahha! I though Gosh!! Is this life at its best, is this London!

Obviously, people like us coming from south east country like Nepal, we have a big and broad picture of these developed countries. When I landed at Heathrow, one of the busiest airport in the world, and by the looks of thing I found the other way to yours.

Loads and lots of people flying in. Some for visit, many for business and a mass for studies. UK and USA are awesome powers for people like us. To have entered UK itself I was really excited and very anxious to see the country.

It’s been more than 3 years now but still when I travel on the trains here famously known as “The underground” I still have that surge of real happiness. Each time before opening the train doors automated the message comes up as “Mind the gap between the train and the platform.” Very different than the public transportation, we are accustomed to back home. Having lived and studied in Nepal for more than 2 decade, living and studying here was and is still is very amazing experience for me. The people are so busy out here, all the time chasing their own shadows or the shadows to do something, to gain and to materialize the aspect of living.

I hope we get to develop the infrastructure of our country with these thoughts and the methods of learning that we have been learning here in this country.

Your article really had lots of thoughts and feelings but really it’s very hard to explain these emotions in written forms. Same as mine so I will just like to wish you all best and also wish the country all the best. Let’s both of us hope that, like you said, our country will get the incentives and learning that we have gained in the foreign land and we would implement in the development of our country later.

Best regards,

Rajib
